By the end of the 4 hour workshop you will have your very own, hand made seaglass ring.
All materials, tools and tuition are included in the price - sterling silver and fine silver.
If you would like to bring your own seaglass then you are very welcome to. Your seaglass needs to be no smaller than 0.8cm x 0.8cm and no bigger than 1.5cm x 1.5cm, with a maximum depth of 4.5mm and be evenly and well tumbled. It should sit flat on a table with no/little wobble, but if you're unsure, then bring it all along and we can have a look to find the right piece.
You will learn to design your own piece of jewellery from scratch by choosing your seaglass piece. You will make the back plate for the bezel from silver sheet; you’ll learn how to make the perfect size bezel for your glass and solder the back plate, bezel together. You will also learn how to make the hoops on which your pendant will hang. Lastly you will file and polish your pendant and set your seaglass. You'll be surprised how much you can learn in 4 hours.
You will need to have good dexterity and strength in your fingers and be able to see what you are doing so that you can solder using a blow torch safely. However if there are aspects of the process that you are unable to do that’s fine, I can help you and you can do the rest, just let me know in advance.
The minimum age for this workshop is 12 due to the use of extreme heat and chemicals and children need to be accompanied by a participating adult, please.
Session start time is 10am. Please try to arrive promptly as participants who arrive over 15 mins late will not be able to join the session.
You will be provided with hot drinks and cake to keep you going. If you’d like to bring a packed lunch that fine.
Bookings are non-refundable, however, if you are unable to make a workshop, and give at least 72 hours notice, I will always try to accommodate a change of date where possible.
